Preparing Your Womb Room

mom in fieldOne of the most enjoyable times during your pregnancy is preparing and decorating your baby’s room. This wonderful room needs to be peaceful and inviting. Mothers-to-be are very creative in their personal approaches to their “nesting” instinct. You carefully consider your theme and color scheme to make your nursery just perfect.

Mothers should pay even more attention to creating a “womb room” where their baby can grow and thrive. The theme is love and the color scheme is happy! How do you do this?

Remember the movie, “Field of Dreams?”  The principle applies here.  If you consciously create a healthy, loving place for incubation, your baby will come in as a shining star that radiates the glow of being loved and wanted.

Nurture yourself through healthy nutrition, rest, meditation, massages and gentle exercise.  Love yourself by imagining light flowing through every cell of your body.  Send loving thoughts to your baby, whom you are beginning to get to know.  Protect yourself from stressful people and situations.  Get up and take stretch breaks. Ask your body several times a day, “how am I feeling?”  Name the feeling and let it go. Ask your partner for support and clearly communicate to each other your needs, hopes and dreams about becoming parents.  If you’re feeling sad or mad, tell your baby what you are feeling and reassure them that the feeling is not about him or her.

Your baby will feel your love while he is in your warm, welcoming womb room.  Someday soon, the two of you will be together in the nursery actively looking, touching and smelling each other as you delight in being in each other’s physical presence. You both know that you prepared well for this peaceful and trusting transition or rooms.
